Soroptimist 101

An Overview of Soroptimist

Soroptimist of Hanford meets weekly at noon on Tuesday at Comfort Inn located at 10 N Irwin St. We use our collective power to provide women and girls with the resources and opportunities they need to reach their full potential and live their dreams. Education is a large part of making a difference in a women or young girls life.

The name, Soroptimist, means “best for women,” and that’s what the organization strives to achieve. Our Club projects range from renovating domestic violence shelters, lending a voice to human trafficking which can present itself in many forms. We have donated money on various occasions to the Hanford Adventist Hospital which aided in the development of a new hospital emergency bay and purchase of machinery to providing mammograms to low income women. Annually we grant a minimum of $10,000 to women and girls in the form of educational awards.
